Building a Story for Your Wedding

wedding story dubaiYour big day is not only an event that brings together friends and family to celebrate the union of two people; your big day also tells an important story. The wedding day is all about communicating the love story shared by the couple, which is why it is necessary for you to determine how you will tell that story through the event.

Our wedding planner suggests setting a theme, because it is this theme that will be felt and seen at every corner of the event. You can choose among many options: will it be classic? Rustic? Modern? Elegant? Minimalist? Now, the real question is how to choose the right theme to tell your story. Don’t worry, because we have created this blog specially to assist you in selecting the perfect wedding style: all it takes is for you to answer five simple questions.

1) What kind of location do you see yourself in?

If you are planning on having an outdoor wedding, then some of your options would be to have a backyard, beach or garden style weddings. On the other hand, if you are thinking of an indoor venue, then you probably would not be able to go for any of the themes just mentioned; however, you could go for many other themes  –  one of which can be  an elegant or glamourous wedding. Some styles go well with both types of locations. For example, you can have a rustic theme both indoors and outdoors.

2) What is the level of formality of your wedding?

In other words, consider your guest list. If you are having a few close friends and family members, then it might not make sense to have a glamorous wedding. On the other hand, if you are going big for your big day, that theme does fit well. For smaller weddings, rustic, backyard, beach, or simple wedding styles work best.

3) What is your lifestyle like?

Consider your own personal style as a couple. Ask yourself questions such as: what is the style of my home? Of my clothing? These are great indicators of what style you should be going for on your big day. For instance, if your home is decorated with a minimalistic feel, it may be appropriate to consider the same style for your event. Alternatively, if you are into vintage clothing, a vintage wedding would be a great way to communicate your story.

4) As a couple, what are your likes?

Dig deep into the personality of your relationship. Think of the things you love to do as a couple, or a passion you both share. More specifically, if you both love to travel, then a wedding themed after your favorite destination (Italian or French, for example) would be wonderful. Or, rather, if you both adore the outdoors, you should definitely consider a backyard or beach themed wedding.

5) Do you have a list of must have items?

Last but not least, think about a few key items you don’t imagine your wedding not having. The items themselves can help you narrow down what theme would suit your wedding better. Let’s say you envision a white wedding, with white flowers and décor. In that case, you are probably thinking of a minimalist theme. Or, if you consider mason jars as a must have for your celebration, then you may be leaning towards a rustic themed wedding.

With these questions in mind, we are sure that you will have a great story to tell your guests. To make it even easier to remember, think of the 5 Ls of wedding style picking: location, level of formality, lifestyle, likes, and list of must haves.
